PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Scheihing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Gotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Scheihing!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gotti gets a clinch.

Gotti breaks from the clinch.

Gotti shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Scheihing napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scheihing trying to remain calm as Gotti controls from the top position.
Scheihing manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Scheihing is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gotti is just riding it out for now. Scheihing eventually gives up the hold.
Scheihing wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scheihing looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gotti has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scheihing is working away from the top position though.

Gotti is trying to control but can't.
Gotti wants to improve his position but Scheihing is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Scheihing tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab lands there for Gotti.
Gotti just misses with a punch to the body.
Scheihing defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gotti.

Scheihing lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Gotti looking to score a takedown here. Scheihing is defending well but Gotti drives through and ends up in Scheihing's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gotti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scheihing swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gotti is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gotti will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Scheihing had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gotti defends it easily.
Scheihing pulls Gotti in close to prevent any damage.
Gotti postures up in Scheihing's guard and throws a big left but Scheihing blocks it.

Scheihing is looking to sweep but instead, Gotti has passed into half guard.
Gotti throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Gotti is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Scheihing defends it well.
Gotti is trying to control. Scheihing wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Scheihing is looking to escape.

Gotti stands up out of the half guard.
Gotti is breathing heavily.

Scheihing tries a head kick but it misses.
Scheihing changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gotti tries to avoid it but Scheihing manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gotti to the ground. Gotti escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gotti avoids the head kick by Scheihing.
Gotti clobbers Scheihing with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gotti shoots in for a double leg but Scheihing sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Scheihing drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gotti has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Scheihing can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Scheihing trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scheihing not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Gotti will probably get the nod.

Gotti throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Scheihing throws a half hearted mid kick.
Gotti closes this distance looking for a takedown but Scheihing circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scheihing trying to control but Gotti is having none of it.
Scheihing is landing with some decent strikes but Gotti is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Scheihing has hold of Gotti's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gotti manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Gotti wants to control but Scheihing is having none of it.
Gotti tries to control Scheihing's body but Scheihing pushes him off. Gotti squirms to his side and now Scheihing has his back!

Even with his hooks in, Scheihing manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Scheihing misses with punches from the back.

Scheihing is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shane Scheihing showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fight stays on the outside here - Scheihing looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shane Scheihing comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Scheihing has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
