PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lazarus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke LaCrosse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman - Metallica. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaCrosse looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.
Jones misses with a hook. LaCrosse ducked under it nicely.
Jones throws a poor cross that misses
and LaCrosse counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jones thinking.
LaCrosse is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

LaCrosse rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Jones blocks an uppercut.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
LaCrosse thows a body shot but no joy.
LaCrosse checks the leg kick.
Jones throws a hook but LaCrosse blocks it.

It looks like Duke LaCrosse has been cut.

and LaCrosse counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at LaCrosse to acknowledge the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

LaCrosse gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones tries to break the clinch but LaCrosse is controlling the position.
Jones drops to a knee looking for a takedown but LaCrosse gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jones tries to circle away but LaCrosse has him pinned against the cage.
LaCrosse lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Lazarus Jones has been cut.
Jones is trying to break free.
Jones lands a right hand.
A nice right hand lands inside from LaCrosse.
Jones on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
LaCrosse lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but LaCrosse keeps him there for the moment.

LaCrosse lands a damaging elbow.

LaCrosse presses Jones against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
LaCrosse lands a hook to the side of the head.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
LaCrosse moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
LaCrosse throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off.
Jones throws a low kick but LaCrosse avoids it.
LaCrosse fails to land with a series of punches.
LaCrosse fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jones lands a jab-cross combination.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. LaCrosse defends it nicely.

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
LaCrosse throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps LaCrosse thinking.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones cracks LaCrosse with an open hand slap.

LaCrosse drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for LaCrosse.
LaCrosse works on Jones's body with a couple of short punches.
A hook to the body from Jones.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but LaCrosse pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice uppercut lands for Jones. That snapped LaCrosse's head back.

LaCrosse throws a quick inside leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones throws a leg kick but LaCrosse sees it coming and moves out of range.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
LaCrosse regains half guard.
LaCrosse is doing well to control the position and prevent Jones from advancing to side control.
Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
LaCrosse slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
LaCrosse avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Duke LaCrosse will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

LaCrosse lands with a light punch inside.
A nice left hand lands by LaCrosse.
LaCrosse goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Jones breaks the clinch.

and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

LaCrosse is rocked!
Crack! Jones connects with the perfect overhand right and LaCrosse falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Jones!
