Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sub Zero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Damien Short!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Zero takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Short just misses with a punch to the body.
Zero takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Zero tries for a takedown but Short circles away easily
and Short counters with a nice body shot.
Zero moves forwards but Short connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Short clobbers Zero with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Nice sprawl there from Short as Zero shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sub Zero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Short jabs at Zero's body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Short connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Zero momentarily.
Short fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Zero looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Short takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Short looks to score with a jab to the body but Zero is just out of range.
Short scores with a hook to the body. Zero takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Zero. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Zero tries to score a power double leg takedown but Short sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zero somewhat.
No luck for Zero with that takedown attempt.
Zero is breathing heavily.
Short throws a right and a left that both miss.
Damien Short seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Short.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Short misses with a series of wild punches.
Zero takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Zero is rocked!
Short throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Zero stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice cross by Short.
Oh Zero is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Short is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Zero flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Zero is out cold! Short holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
