PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sameer Hamadoui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamadoui comes to the ring accompanied by Lights Out. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Hamadoui scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Hopper fails with a takedown attempt.
Hamadoui misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

It looks like Nelson Hopper has been cut.
Hopper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hamadoui's waist but Hamadoui gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hopper off to one side.
Hamadoui misses with a kick to the body.
Hopper blocks a head kick by Hamadoui.
A thudding body kick lands there by Hamadoui!
Hamadoui lands a nice hook to Hopper's body. Hopper takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Hopper shoots in and gets a takedown into Hamadoui's guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hopper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hamadoui works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hopper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hamadoui wants to stand but Hopper is controlling the position.
Hamadoui is breathing heavily.
Hopper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hamadoui swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hopper stops Hamadoui from standing up.
Hopper is pushing down on Hamadoui's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hamadoui is fighting to maintain full guard but Hopper has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hopper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hamadoui does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hopper is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hopper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hamadoui's head.

Hamadoui wants to get back to his feet.
Hopper not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hopper stalling away here and it's allowed Hamadoui to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Hopper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hopper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hamadoui does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hopper tries to pass to full mount but Hamadoui defends it.
Hamadoui is not content to let Hopper control the position.

Hopper wants to work for an arm triangle but Hamadoui is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hamadoui is trying to stand up here but Hopper is controlling him well.

Hopper passes the guard and advances to mount!
