PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charles Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Haseesh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry comes to the cage accompanied by Revolution Calling by Queensryche. Haseesh has chosen Guns n Roses - Mr Brownstone as his entrance music. Omar Haseesh will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Charles Henry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Omar Haseesh!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Henry drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Haseesh pushes Henry away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Henry gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Henry stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Haseesh throws a chopping leg kick but Henry manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Henry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Haseesh's waist but Haseesh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Henry off to one side.
Henry doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Haseesh counters with a straight right hand.
Henry with a lazy takedown attempt
and Haseesh counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Henry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Henry shoots and misses
and Haseesh counters with a series of strikes. Henry will be more careful next time no doubt.
Haseesh wants to clinch

and Henry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Haseesh's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Henry trying to control the position from guard on top but Haseesh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Henry looking to sit in guard and control but Haseesh gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Henry is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Henry has a closed guard, preventing Haseesh from standing up.

Haseesh stands up and waves to Henry to follow him.
Haseesh looks to score with a jab to the body but Henry is just out of range.

Haseesh defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Henry.
Henry is breathing heavily.

and Haseesh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Haseesh works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Henry tries for a takedown but Haseesh circles away easily
and Haseesh counters with a straight right hand.
Haseesh buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Haseesh lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A bone on bone clash there as Haseesh blocks the leg kick.
Henry closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A cross from Haseesh lands.
Omar Haseesh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Haseesh scores with the left hand. Henry knows he should have avoided that one.
Haseesh is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Henry had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Henry looks to clinch
and Haseesh counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Henry moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Donk. Haseesh catches Henry right on the button with a cross.
Henry shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Haseesh counters with a two punch combo.
Henry takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Haseesh scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


Henry is rocked!


It looks like Charles Henry has been cut.
Haseesh ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Oh Henry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Haseesh lands with a shot to the body.
Henry seems to have got his legs back now.
Haseesh is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Haseesh fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Henry.
Haseesh lands with an overhand left.
Haseesh throws a series of strikes that have Henry backpedaling.
Haseesh lands an overhand right.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Omar Haseesh dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Charles Henry's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Haseesh goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Haseesh jabs Henry right on the nose. Henry blinks but takes it well.
Haseesh lunges at Henry with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Henry's hand.
Haseesh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Henry.

and Haseesh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

No luck for Henry with that takedown attempt.

Haseesh pushes Henry up against the cage in a clinch.

Haseesh escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Haseesh misses with a head kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Haseesh lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Haseesh.
Haseesh catches Henry with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Haseesh closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Henry tries to score a body lock takedown but Haseesh shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Haseesh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Henry fails with the takedown
and Haseesh counters with a stiff right hand.
Haseesh looks for the body kick but Henry saw that one coming.
Henry takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Haseesh lands with a hook. Henry tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Haseesh cracks Henry with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Omar Haseesh seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Henry has his takedown stuffed
and Haseesh counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Haseesh has closed the distance and engaged Henry in a clinch.

Haseesh manages to break the clinch.
Haseesh scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Henry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Haseesh counter with a right hand.
Haseesh closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Haseesh throws a right and a left that Henry avoids nicely.
Haseesh has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Henry walks into a left hand.
Good standup being displayed there by Haseesh as he connects with a hook.
Haseesh pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Henry back to the cage. Haseesh follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Henry looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Haseesh pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Haseesh scores with a hook to the body. Henry takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Henry drops his hands momentarily and Haseesh takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Haseesh stalks Henry and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Henry's face. Henry staggers backwards, shaken.

Henry gets tackled into the cage by Haseesh. Haseesh maintains the clinch.
Haseesh tries to circle away but Henry has him pinned against the cage.
Haseesh has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Haseesh lands with a right to the head.
Haseesh tries to circle away but Henry has him pinned against the cage.

Haseesh pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Haseesh lands with an uppercut that bounces Henry off the cage and back into range.
Henry moves in looking to clinch but Haseesh pushes him off.

and Haseesh counters with a stiff right hand.
Henry will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Haseesh is working the combinations to good effect here.

Haseesh comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Henry on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Haseesh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Omar Haseesh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Haseesh feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Henrys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Henry closes this distance looking for a takedown but Haseesh circles away.
Haseesh lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Henry backs up against the cage.

Haseesh scores with a jab to the head.
Haseesh throws a series of strikes that have Henry backpedaling.
Henry gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Haseesh gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Omar Haseesh!
Omar Haseesh very nearly forgot to thank Versus Clothing amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
