PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Capelle Eric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eric misses with a head kick.
Eric shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Emelianenko eats them both and turns towards Eric to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Fedor Emelianenko has been cut.

Emelianenko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Eric swivels and escapes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Emelianenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eric has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Emelianenko has managed to get both his arms back between Eric's legs - danger averted.

Emelianenko shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Eric manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

and Emelianenko counters with a shoot takedown. Eric fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Emelianenko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Emelianenko winds up and cracks Eric with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Eric is looking to get back to his feet here but Emelianenko is keeping cool and he's managed to take Eric's back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Eric is in bad spot here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Fedor Emelianenko will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Emelianenko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Eric throws a nice looking combination but Emelianenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Emelianenko blocks a head kick by Eric.
Emelianenko closes the distance and clinches up with Eric, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes Eric against the cage but Eric circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Emelianenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Emelianenko shoots for a takedown but Eric saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Eric throws a sloppy head kick and Emelianenko moves out of range easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Emelianenko closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Eric's guard.

Eric is looking for a triangle here but Emelianenko uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Eric tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Eric can't escape the position.
Eric is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fedor Emelianenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Emelianenko has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
