PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Said Alibekov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastian Rotmensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alibekov shoots in and drives through. Rotmensen sprawls well.

Rotmensen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rotmensen stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Rotmensen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Said Alibekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Alibekov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rotmensen is just riding it out for now. Alibekov eventually gives up the hold.

Alibekov uses his free foot to push down on Rotmensen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rotmensen.

Alibekov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rotmensen wants to control but Alibekov is having none of it.
Alibekov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rotmensen's face.

Alibekov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rotmensen manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alibekov tries to advance to mount but Rotmensen denies him.

Alibekov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rotmensen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Alibekov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rotmensen has escaped the position, nice work there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ground and pound from Alibekov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Alibekov has a takedown stuffed.
Sebastian Rotmensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rotmensen doesn't manage to clinch there - Alibekov circles away.
Rotmensen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Rotmensen darts in and clinches Alibekov up against the cage.
Alibekov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rotmensen walks away with a smile on his face. Alibekov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Said Alibekov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alibekov shoots in looking for a takedown but Rotmensen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alibekov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Said Alibekov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rotmensen is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Alibekov has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Rotmensen has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Alibekov taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Rotmensen doesn't care though - he's delighted!
