The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzaga gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Gonzaga looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cage has picked Gonzaga up and slammed him! Gonzaga can't keep hold of the triangle and Cage manages to pass to side control!

Cage thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cage tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gonzaga's legs.
Gonzaga is looking to reverse the position.
Gonzaga prevents Cage from improving position.

Cage is trying to get an arm triangle but Gonzaga is defending well.
Gonzaga wants to control but Cage postures up.

Cage working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Cage tries to advance to mount but Gonzaga denies him.

Gonzaga tries to buck Cage off but Cage is having none of it.
Cage works to advance to full mount. Gonzaga defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Cage seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Gonzaga is holding on tight.
Gonzaga sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Gonzaga won't allow Cage to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cage looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cage is thwarting Gonzaga's attempts to control the position.
