The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Russo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Russo scores with a three punch combo!
Russo takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Russo fails to land with a series of punches.
Gomi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Russo moves away.
A nice combination there by Gomi.

It looks like Frankie Russo has been cut.
Gomi tries to bum rush Russo with a series of wild strikes but Russo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A head kick misses from Gomi.

Russo drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Russo postures up.
Russo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Russo throws a big right hand that misses.

Russo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Russo has managed to get both his arms back between Gomi's legs - danger averted.
Gomi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gomi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Russo has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gomi to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Russo is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gomi pulls down on the head and he's put Russo to sleep! This one is all over!
