Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melvin The Sniper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darien Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from The Sniper is defended easily by Michaels.
The Sniper throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Michaels closes the distance and clinches up with The Sniper, looking for a takedown. Michaels pushes The Sniper against the cage but The Sniper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The Sniper throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
The Sniper looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Michaels shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. The Sniper is trying to defend but Michaels finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Michaels is looking to stall here but The Sniper recovers full guard.
The Sniper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Michaels manages to get himself to full guard.
The Sniper controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Sniper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Michaels has control of The Sniper's left arm, preventing The Sniper from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Sniper has gone for a leg lock! Michaels slips out almost immediately though and dives into The Sniper's guard.
The Sniper wants to stand and escape but Michaels is having none of it.
Michaels wants to pass the guard but The Sniper is keeping the position.

The Sniper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Michaels doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Michaels manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Michaels distracts The Sniper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Michaels is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Michaels must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Michaels shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Sniper's guard.

Michaels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Sniper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Melvin The Sniper.
Michaels tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Sniper swivels and escapes.
Michaels avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Michaels shoots in looking for a takedown but The Sniper manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Michaels's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Michaels closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The Sniper did well to prevent Michaels getting side control.

Michaels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Sniper swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Melvin The Sniper wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The Sniper shoots in for a double leg but Michaels sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A close second round but Darien Michaels will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Michaels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Darien Michaels is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Darien Michaels.
