PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Falko Estrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Felipe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Felipe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ain't That A Kick In The Head. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go!These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Falko Estrada!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mickey Felipe!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Estrada.
Estrada lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Estrada takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Estrada clinches up with Felipe and pushes him back against the cage.
Estrada tries for a takedown but Felipe manages to get underhooks.
Felipe lands a left hand that snaps the head of Estrada backwards.

Estrada breaks the clinch.
Estrada clobbers Felipe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Felipe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Estrada.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Estrada crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Felipe - the referee stops the clock and Estrada gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Felipe. Estrada manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A good leg kick by Felipe.
Estrada will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Felipe misses with a kick to the body
and Estrada counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Felipe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Felipe misses with a kick to the body.
Felipe is looking to land body kicks.
Estrada misses with a combination
and Felipe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Estrada tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Felipe was well out of range. Poor timing from Estrada.
Felipe defending well as Estrada loads up on a big left hand.
Estrada fails with a takedown attempt.
Felipe throws a head kick that misses.
Estrada dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Estrada blocks the body kick.
Felipe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Felipe throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Estrada fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Felipe, pushing him back against the cage.
Felipe misses with a shot to the kidneys.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Felipe.
Felipe misses with the head strike.
Felipe tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Felipe struggles to land a body shot inside as Estrada controls his hands.
Felipe tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Estrada is pushing Felipe up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
A right handed body shot lands from Estrada.

Estrada has Felipe pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Estrada pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Felipe tumbling to the mat - Estrada dives into Felipe's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Estrada postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Estrada controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Estrada looking to sit in guard and control but Felipe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Felipe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Estrada swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Estrada is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Felipe is aware though and is defending well.
Estrada might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Felipe trying to stand up but can't free himself from Estrada's guard.

Estrada has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Felipe should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Estrada has tightened it up now! Felipe should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Falko Estrada!

An out of breath Falko Estrada thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
