The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christopher misses with a takedown
and Maximus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Christopher's guard.
Maximus trying to stand up but can't free himself from Christopher's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Christopher is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Christopher tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Maximus thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Christopher seems keen to control Maximus's posture.
Let's hope that Christopher has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Christopher controls Maximus momentarily but Maximus frees himself.
Maximus wants to pass the guard but Christopher is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maximus drops back looking for a leg! Christopher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Christopher manages to kick Maximus off! Maximus jumps back into Christopher's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Christopher holds on and takes a little breather.
Maximus drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Maximus seems to have locked his on tight now - Christopher screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Maximus, as he picks up the win!
