Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Connors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Der Fisch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Der Fisch is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mitch Connors!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Der Fisch!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connors looking to score a takedown here. Fisch is defending well but Connors drives through and ends up in Fisch's guard.
Connors is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Connors wants to pass the guard but Fisch is keeping the position.
Connors looking to sit in guard and control but Fisch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Connors manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fisch manages to get himself to full guard.
Connors is looking to advance position but Fisch has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisch prevents Connors from getting the reversal.

Connors is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Connors gets back to half guard.

Connors manages to escape and get back to his feet!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fisch wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Fisch avoiding damage as Connors throws knees to the body.
Fisch dodges an elbow strike from Connors.
Connors landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Fisch working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Fisch tries to circle away but Connors has him pinned against the cage.
Fisch blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A frustrated look appears on Fisch's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Fisch is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Fisch has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Connors uses from the top position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Connors has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Connors is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fisch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fisch has escaped and now he's on top!

Connors looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fisch wants to stand but Connors is controlling his posture from full guard.

Fisch stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Fisch clinches.
Connors wants a takedown.
Fisch gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Connors.

Fisch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fisch looks to score with a jab to the body but Connors is just out of range.

Fisch forces Connors back against the cage and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fisch wants to break free but Connors has control.
Connors wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mitch Connors. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A short left from Fisch.
Fisch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Connors has him pressed against the cage.
Fisch pushes Connors back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Connors is breathing heavily.
Fisch lands a knee to the head.


Connors is rocked!


It looks like Mitch Connors has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fisch tries to break free but Connors pushes him back against the cage.
Connors prevents Fisch from breaking the clinch.

Connors feints and as Fisch raises his hands in defense, Connors changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Connors wants to control from the top but Fisch keeps moving.
Fisch wants to get back to his feet but Connors is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mitch Connors will probably get the nod.

Fisch closes the distance and pushes Connors back into the cage.
Connors wants a takedown.
Fisch tries to break the clinch but Connors is controlling the position.
Connors drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fisch pulls his leg out and moves away.
Fisch misses with a head kick.

Fisch moves into the clinch successfully.
Connors keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Fisch's efforts to push away.
Fisch is trying to break the clinch but Connors is controlling him.

Fisch drags the fight down to the ground.
Connors missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Connors advances position into side control!
Connors tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Fisch is not content to let Connors control the position.
Connors throws an elbow but Fisch slips to the side and avoids it well.

Connors tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Connors has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Connors is looking to take a break and control but Fisch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Connors tries to move to mount but Fisch blocks the move with his legs.
Fisch struggling a bit here.
Connors wants to control but Fisch is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fisch stops Connors from passing to mount.
Mitch Connors overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Connors wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fisch keeps working.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Connors throws a strike aimed at the side of Fisch's head but Fisch avoids it well.

Connors stands up.

Fisch defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Connors.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mitch Connors. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fisch instigates a clinch.
Fisch is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Fisch can't break the clinch.

Connors has picked Fisch up - he's going for a ride! Connors dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Connors perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fisch tries to get to full guard but Connors has control of the leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Connors shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fisch as he jumps to the side.

Fisch clinches with his opponent.
Connors fails to pull guard.

Connors drags the fight down to the ground.
Connors is trying to keep Fisch in close.
Fisch would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Connors looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Fisch puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Connors is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fisch wants to stand up but Connors is controlling the position.
Connors trying to control here.

Fisch gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Fisch gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fisch lands a nice shot to the body.
Connors lands a knee to the body.
Fisch is trying to push Connors away but Connors has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Fisch has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fisch lands a nice shot to the body.

Connors has clasped his hands together around Fisch's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fisch is trying to buck Connors off.

Fisch is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Connors has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Connors misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mitch Connors is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mitch Connors has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Fisch takes the fight into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fisch stalling in the clinch but Connors improves position.

Fisch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Der Fisch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fisch falls off balance throwing a combination

so Connors counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mitch Connors.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Connors, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
