The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puikko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Puikko scores with a nice body kick.
Puikko connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Abu Al Zarqawi has been cut.
Al Zarqawi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Puikko.
Puikko looks to score with a jab to the body but Al Zarqawi is just out of range.
Janne Puikko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puikko throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Al Zarqawi on the side of the head.
An inside leg kick lands from Puikko.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A looping hook to the body misses from Puikko. Al Zarqawi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Al Zarqawi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Puikko was well out of range. Poor timing from Al Zarqawi.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Puikko lands a nice hook to Al Zarqawi's body. Al Zarqawi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Puikko has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Puikko goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Al Zarqawi walks forward, straight into a front kick from Puikko.
Al Zarqawi is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Al Zarqawi doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Puikko scores with a jab. Al Zarqawi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Jeez, Abu Al Zarqawi's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Puikko shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Al Zarqawi eats them both and turns towards Puikko to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
