PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lonnie Richard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Schneider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schneider has chosen Bad to the bone as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lonnie Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Schneider!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richard throws a right hand that Schneider ducks under and follows up with a left that Schneider also avoids with ease.
Richard throws a nice inside leg kick.
Richard tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice body kick from Richard.
Richard misses with a body shot.
Schneider tries to clinch there but Richard circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Richard lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Schneider tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Schneider looks like he's trying to stand up.
Richard trying to control the action but Schneider is working from the bottom.

Richard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Richard thows a huge punch but Schneider dodges it nicely.

Richard gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
A decent looking cross lands there for Richard.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Richard lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Schneider has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Schneider and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Richard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Richard throws a series of punches but Schneider avoids them all with ease.
Richard lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
A left lands for Richard.
Richard jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Schneider tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Schneider really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Schneider pushes Richard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Richard throws out a powerful jab.

Richard throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Richard scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Richard tries for a kimura but Schneider is defending well.
Richard is breathing heavily.
Schneider managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Richard.
Schneider sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Schneider flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Schneider is trying to get back to full guard.
Richard throwing shots but Schneider is blocking nicely.
Schneider is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Schneider missing with punches from the bottom.
Richard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Schneider regains full guard. Nicely done.
Richard looking to pass the guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schneider can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Schneider blocks a head kick by Richard.

Schneider wants to clinch.

Richard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Richard wants to pass the guard but Schneider is keeping the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schneider is on top in guard.

Richard stands and throws Schneider's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Richard advances to mount.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Schneider has eaten all the pies!

Richard wants to finish this one by submission but Schneider is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Richard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Richard has hold of Schneider's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Schneider manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Richard working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Schneider turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Richard off and cradles Schneider's limp body as Richard celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Lonnie Richard!
