PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johann Remarque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Meitus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Remarque tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Meitus steps into range and cracks Remarque with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Remarque flops backwards and Meitus dives into his guard looking to finish!

Oh Remarque is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Remarque will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Meitus wants to control from the top but Remarque keeps moving.
Remarque lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Meitus!

Remarque has control of Meitus's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Meitus regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Remarque seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Meitus is holding on tight.

Meitus stops Remarque from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Meitus tries to reverse the position but Remarque maintains control.

Meitus wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Remarque is not going to allow Meitus to sit and survive in this position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Meitus is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Remarque has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Meitus has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meitus trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Meitus tries to escape but Remarque has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Meitus turns into Remarque and is now in his guard.
Meitus postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Meitus cracks Remarque with a solid left hand.
Meitus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Remarque's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Meitus goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Remarque wants to clinch but Meitus slips to the side

and Meitus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Remarque keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Meitus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Remarque does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Meitus lying in Remarque's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Remarque decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Meitus taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
