The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nichols looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gordon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nichols loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nichols accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nichols throws a strike but Gordon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Gordon is pushing down on Nichols's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nichols is fighting to maintain full guard but Gordon has managed to sneak the leg through.

Nichols wants to sweep here but Gordon controlling him for the moment.

Gordon stands up and waves to Nichols to follow him.
Nichols shoots for a takedown but Gordon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roy Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nichols keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
