Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michal Materla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Luke Mc Duke!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Materla changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mc Duke tries to avoid it but Materla manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mc Duke to the ground. Mc Duke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Materla moves in looking to clinch but Mc Duke pushes him off.
A head kick misses from Mc Duke.
Materla misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Materla fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Materla. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Materla doesn't manage to clinch there - Mc Duke circles away.
Materla wants to clinch up but Mc Duke keeps it at a distance.

Materla rushes Mc Duke and presses him up against the cage.
Materla gets through Mc Duke's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Mc Duke is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Materla breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mc Duke pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Materla clinches up with Mc Duke and pushes him back against the cage.
Mc Duke can't break the clinch.

A frustrated look appears on Mc Duke's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Materla is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Materla keeps control of Mc Duke as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Materla ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Materla no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mc Duke trying to stand up but can't free himself from Materla's guard.
Mc Duke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Materla looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mc Duke is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mc Duke tries to stand but Materla is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Materla is adopting a defensive guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Materla avoids the head kick by Mc Duke.
Mc Duke swats away the attempt to clinch by Materla.
Mc Duke throws a head kick that misses.
Mc Duke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Materla.

Materla closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Materla lands a left hand.
Materla lands with a left to the head.
Mc Duke wants to get back to striking at distance but Materla won't allow it.
Materla lands a left hand that snaps the head of Mc Duke backwards.
Mc Duke looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Materla pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mc Duke would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mc Duke looks gassed!
Mc Duke won't allow Materla to sweep him here.
Mc Duke has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Materla is proving hard to escape from.
Mc Duke is fighting to break Materla's control of his arms but Materla is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michal Materla wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Mc Duke throws a sloppy head kick and Materla moves out of range easily.
Materla shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mc Duke sprawls well. Mc Duke wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Materla gets slowly back to his feet.
Materla tries for a takedown but Mc Duke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mc Duke throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Materla clinches up with Mc Duke and pushes him back against the cage.
Mc Duke wants to get back to striking at distance but Materla won't allow it.
Materla tries to score a body lock takedown but Mc Duke shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Materla lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mc Duke backwards.
Materla keeps control of Mc Duke as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Materla trying to stall but Mc Duke improves his position.

Materla pulls guard.
Mc Duke tries to stand but Materla is controlling from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michal Materla dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Materla throws a combination. Mc Duke tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Materla tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mc Duke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Materla somewhat.

Materla closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mc Duke's guard.
Materla trying to control but Mc Duke is working from the bottom.
Materla sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mc Duke's guard.

Materla is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mc Duke doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Materla.

Materla has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mc Duke defend it? Materla steps over the head and cranks it - Mc Duke is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Materla!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Michal Materla!
Michal Materla very nearly forgot to thank Steel Penn's Skin Shop *laundry 93% amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
