Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Koscheck swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smith scores with a takedown into Koscheck's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Koscheck is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Koscheck is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.
Smith trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Koscheck is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Koscheck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Koscheck tries to get out of the position.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Koscheck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Koscheck is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.
Smith chips away with some ground and pound.

Koscheck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Koscheck isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smith stacks Koscheck on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smith!
Koscheck is breathing heavily.
Smith lands a few punches from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Koscheck knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Smith advances to mount.
Koscheck tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away.
Smith pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Smith is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Koscheck tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

It looks like Josh Koscheck has been cut.

Smith fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Josh Koscheck's cut is getting worse.
Smith scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Koscheck?
Koscheck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Koscheck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Josh Koscheck's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Koscheck's face.
Oh Koscheck is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jeez, Josh Koscheck's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Josh Koscheck's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
