Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronny McNeil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Starbuck!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Starbuck tries to clinch but McNeil is having none of it.
Starbuck defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McNeil.
Starbuck fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Starbuck closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Starbuck lands in his opponent's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

McNeil looking for a guillotine here but Starbuck defends easily.

Starbuck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McNeil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Starbuck has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Starbuck works over McNeil with some ground and pound from guard.
Starbuck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McNeil swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Starbuck wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McNeil, who protects the arm well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Starbuck has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, McNeil has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Starbuck scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. McNeil is looking for a way out.

Starbuck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McNeil shoots in looking for a takedown but Starbuck manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McNeil's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McNeil shoots in but Starbuck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronny McNeil. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McNeil shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Starbuck but Starbuck pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Starbuck swings around for an armbar but McNeil sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Starbuck's guard.

McNeil wants to control from the top but Starbuck keeps moving.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McNeil pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Starbuck is keeping the position for now.
McNeil has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Starbuck is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Starbuck isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McNeil stacks Starbuck on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McNeil!

You can see the frustration on McNeil's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mike Starbuck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Starbuck is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McNeil can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Starbuck has hold of McNeil's arm. He's looking for a kimura. McNeil seems comfortable defending it but Starbuck has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! McNeil is real pain and he's forced to tap out! McNeil is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Starbuck couldn't care less - he's delighted!
