Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between J.P. Damphousse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Tabs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). P. Damphousse and Jesus Tabs. Jesus Tabs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Tabs!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tabs.
Tabs checks the leg kick.
Tabs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Damphousse counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Damphousse forces his way into half guard.
Tabs makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tabs.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Damphousse stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tabs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Damphousse is pushing down on Tabs's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tabs is fighting to maintain full guard but Damphousse has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tabs is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Damphousse pulls his head out easily.

Damphousse is keen to just control but Tabs is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Damphousse frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Tabs looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Even with his hooks in, Damphousse manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Tabs wants to escape the position.

Damphousse looking for the choke but no joy.
Damphousse is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Damphousse gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Damphousse gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Damphousse apologises and we restart here on the feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Damphousse is taking a breather. Tabs says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Tabs stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Damphousse.

Tabs has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Damphousse uses from the top position.

Tabs has his foot on Damphousse's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Damphousse works his way back into a safe position though.

Damphousse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tabs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Damphousse has managed to get both his arms back between Tabs's legs - danger averted.

Damphousse has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Damphousse fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tabs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tabs pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Damphousse taps out and this one is all over!
