PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Nagura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nagura comes to the cage accompanied by Talking to Myself. Paulo Avila will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nagura tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Avila manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Avila takes the fight into the clinch.
Nagura jumps guard but Avila stands there with Nagura around his waist. Nagura gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Avila has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nagura avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Avila can't break the clinch.
Nagura looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Avila goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nagura prevents it.

Nagura wants the takedown. Avila is fighting it off but Nagura persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Avila's guard against the cage.

Nagura is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Nagura gets to his feet. Avila looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Avila throws a combination. Nagura tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Avila scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Nagura gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Avila is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nagura pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Avila really wants to buck Nagura off and get back to his feet.

Avila circles away from the clinch attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nagura defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Avila.

Avila throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mike Nagura is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Good leg kick by Nagura there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Avila shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Nagura ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Avila moves away.

Nagura shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Avila manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Paulo Avila has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Nagura closes the distance and pushes Avila back into the cage.
Nagura tries to pull guard but Avila holds him up against the cage and eventually Nagura drops back down to his feet.
Avila is looking to break free of the clinch but Nagura has double underhooks.

Avila pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nagura fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice takedown defense from Nagura. No joy for Avila on that attempt.

Avila gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nagura to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Nagura is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Avila is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Avila has escaped and now he's on top!

Avila content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Nagura has locked up a guillotine! Nagura's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Avila is holding on here and Nagura must be using up a lot of energy. Avila has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Nagura gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
