Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Cockburn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeronimo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cockburn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Santos's waist but Santos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cockburn off to one side.

Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cockburn is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cockburn has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Santos is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cockburn.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that William Cockburn will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Santos swings wildly with an uppercut but Cockburn uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cockburn has picked Santos up - he's going for a ride! Cockburn dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Santos won't allow Cockburn to pass to mount.

Cockburn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Cockburn eventually gives up the hold.

Cockburn is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Santos as he works his way to full guard.

Santos wants to stand and escape but Cockburn is having none of it.

Cockburn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cockburn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cockburn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Santos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cockburn, into his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Santos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Santos is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cockburn has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Santos is looking to defend but Cockburn has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Santos! Cockburn pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Santos taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). William Cockburn!
