Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Toby Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juliet Nazar!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans throws a poor cross that misses

and Nazar counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nazar.
Nazar wants a takedown but no success here.
Nazar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Evans gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Evans trying to control the position but instead, Nazar has worked for underhooks and has pushed Evans into the cage.

Evans pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nazar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Toby Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juliet Nazar.
Evans ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nazar moves away.
Evans fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Nazar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Evans missing with a left hand there. Nazar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nazar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Toby Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Evans. Nazar does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nazar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Evans is fending him off so far but Nazar persists. Nope, Evans circles away and we're back to standing.

Nazar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Evans as he avoids it easily.

Evans fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nazar manages to avoid it.

Nazar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Evans looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Evans is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Nazar's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Evans tries to kick Nazar off but Nazar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Evans makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Evans.
Evans is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Evans looking for a guillotine here but Nazar defends easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Nazar trying to control the action but Evans is working from the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Evans pushes Nazar away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nazar gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Evans is looking for a sweep.
Nazar trying to control the position but Evans is working away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Toby Evans will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Nazar is taking a breather. Evans says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nazar wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Well, if Nazar is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Evans is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Nazar misses with a few strikes there.
Evans throws a hook but Nazar blocks it.
Nazar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Evans throws out the jab.
Nazar shoots for a double leg takedown but Evans sprawls well. He's pushed Nazar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Evans on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Evans tries to get out of the position.

Nazar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Evans keeps working.
Evans is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nazar asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Evans parries the strikes from Nazar easily there. Nazar is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Evans to escape.

Nazar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Evans is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

I think Evans has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
