Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Longfellow Deeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deeds's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Evils Deeds. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Willy Watson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Longfellow Deeds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Willy Watson!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Deeds jabs Watson right on the nose. Watson blinks but takes it well.
Deeds will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Watson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Deeds.
Watson thuds his shin into the meat of Deeds's side.
Deeds throws a lazy right hand but Watson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Watson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Watson scores with a punch to the head.
Deeds takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Deeds misses with a takedown attempt - Watson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Deeds misses with an uppercut. Watson saw that one coming.
Watson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Deeds eats them both and turns towards Watson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Deeds misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Longfellow Deeds. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Deeds circles away from the clinch attempt.
Watson tries to clinch but Deeds moves out of range.

Watson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Deeds to the mat! Deeds manages to get full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Deeds is working an open guard so Watson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Deeds closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Watson quickly recovers to half guard.

Deeds is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Watson sees it coming and defends easily.

Deeds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Longfellow Deeds wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Watson misses with a body kick.
Watson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Watson punishes Deeds's body with a nice straight punch.
Watson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Deeds avoids it really well and circles away.

Deeds throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Watson was covering up waiting for the punch and Deeds finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Deeds has his foot on Watson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Watson works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Watson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Willy Watson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Watson slaps away a takedown attempt from Deeds, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A close round but Willy Watson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Watson shoots in and drives through. Deeds sprawls well.

Deeds has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Watson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Deeds is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Watson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Watson!
Deeds is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Watson tries to kick Deeds off but Deeds keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Deeds stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Deeds stands up over Watson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Deeds throws a big right hand that misses.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Deeds's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Deeds wants to control from the top but Watson keeps moving.

Deeds postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Watson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Deeds, into his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Deeds is on top in guard.

I think Watson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
