PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Kipyatkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Wynd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wynd has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Kipyatkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hector Wynd!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wynd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wynd looks gassed!
Wynd displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kipyatkov.

Kipyatkov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wynd sprawls well initially but Kipyatkov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kipyatkov tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Kipyatkov decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Horrible takedown by Kipyatkov or perhaps it was just good defense by Wynd which made him look bad.

Wynd uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kipyatkov has time to react.
Ricardo Kipyatkov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kipyatkov shoots in for a takedown but Wynd shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wynd wants to improve his position but Kipyatkov is controlling well.

Kipyatkov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wynd sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kipyatkov somewhat.
Wynd leaves Kipyatkov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wynd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wynd wants it to stay on the feet.

Kipyatkov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wynd tries to avoid it but Kipyatkov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wynd to the ground. Wynd escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kipyatkov is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hector Wynd has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wynd cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
You get the feeling that Kipyatkov really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Wynd pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Wynd is landing with some decent strikes but Kipyatkov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wynd is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kipyatkov can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hector Wynd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kipyatkov is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Wynd has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Kipyatkov takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hector Wynd comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wynd has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Hector Wynd was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
