Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaw comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Body Head Bangerz - Can't Be Touched kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Collins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Don Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw throws a big shot that misses.
Shaw takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Collins lands a nice leg kick that just misses Shaw's sensitive parts.

Shaw gets a double leg takedown into Collins's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Collins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Collins wants to stand but Shaw has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Shaw tries to roll over but Collins keeps him under control.
Collins is stalling here. Shaw is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Collins seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shaw has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaw is looking to take a break and control but Collins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Shaw wants to lay and pray for a moment but Collins keeps working.
Collins is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shaw is controlling him well.

Collins tries to improve position but can't.
Collins parries the strikes from Shaw easily there. Shaw is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Collins to escape.

Shaw grinds an elbow into Collins's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaw is looking to take a break and control but Collins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Collins tries to buck Shaw off but Shaw is having none of it.
Collins is pushing Shaw's head away, looking to escape. Shaw manages to hold on to the position though.
Collins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Shaw cracks Collins with a big elbow.
Shaw lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Collins down.
Shaw tries to score with some ground and pound. Collins controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Shaw misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Shaw has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Collins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Collins is refusing to be controlled, as Shaw sits in half guard.
Collins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Shaw.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shaw is looking to advance position but Collins won't allow it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shaw seems to be working for a kimura but Collins defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw wants to clinch up but Collins keeps it at a distance.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shaw.
Steve Collins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Collins works over Shaw's head and body with a nice combination.

and Shaw takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Collins leaves Shaw with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Steve Collins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Collins keeps the fight on the outside.

Shaw dives in and scores a takedown into Collins's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shaw wants to pass the guard but Collins is keeping the position.

Shaw wants to control from the top but Collins keeps moving.

Shaw has gone for a leg lock! Collins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shaw's guard.

Collins avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Collins wants to stand and escape but instead Shaw has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Shaw prevents Collins from getting back to his feet.

Shaw lands a couple of digs.

Collins is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Shaw dives into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The strikes coming from Shaw are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Collins can't do much from the bottom here.

A close second round but Don Shaw will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Collins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Shaw clobbers Collins with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Shaw connects with a jab.
Collins looks to score with a jab to the body but Shaw is just out of range.
Collins misses with a series of wild punches.
A telegraphed right hand from Collins misses the target.
Shaw scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Collins avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shaw dips to his left and cracks Collins with an uppercut!
Collins swings for the body but Shaw moves out of range.
Shaw pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Collins back to the cage. Shaw follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


Collins is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Collins crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shaw - the referee stops the clock and Collins gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shaw. Collins manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Oh Collins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Collins on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shaw. Shaw obviously looking to wear him down.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Shaw lands a nice looking body kick.
Shaw digs a good body shot into Collins's ribs.

Collins leaves his chin hanging out and Shaw seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Collins crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Don Shaw!
A less than humble Don Shaw misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
