PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Ruf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Dallas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruf comes to the cage accompanied by Krump Kings 300 Track. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donald Dallas!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruf changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dallas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ruf trying to control the position but Dallas is working away.
Dallas is looking for a sweep.
Ruf in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Dallas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ruf wants to control but Dallas is keeping him busy.

Dallas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Ruf pulls his head out easily.
Dallas is refusing to be controlled, as Ruf sits in half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Ruf shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dallas holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ruf tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Dallas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Dallas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Dallas manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Dallas is defending against the submission attempts here by Ruf.

Dallas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Ruf pulls his head out easily.
Dallas looks gassed!
Ruf wants to take a breather but Dallas is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ruf is pressing down on Dallas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dallas is holding on for now.
Dallas gets full guard.

Dallas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ruf drops back looking for a leg! Dallas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dallas manages to kick Ruf off! Ruf jumps back into Dallas's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ruf looking to sit in guard and control but Dallas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dallas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruf had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dallas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ruf Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dallas's back instead.
Dallas tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Ruf tries to control but Dallas wriggling away.
Dallas blocking the ground and pound.
Dallas regains half guard.
Ruf tries to stand but can't do so whilst Dallas controls his leg.
Ruf thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ruf wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dallas keeps working.

Ruf is trying to work for a kimura but Dallas is defending well.

Dallas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Ruf pulls his head out easily.
Ruf tries to pass to full mount but Dallas defends it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Ruf keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Dallas.
Dallas stuffs the takedown attempt from Ruf. Ruf gets slowly back to his feet.
A punch combination from Dallas misses.

Ruf scores a takedown into full mount!
Ruf trying to control but Dallas is having none of it.

Dallas is looking to get to half guard.
Dallas avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ruf.
Dallas manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Dallas manages to get to full guard.

Dallas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dallas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ruf!
Ruf is wriggling around trying to escape.

Dallas working for a submission but Ruf is keeping him at bay.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dallas wants to finish this one by submission but Ruf is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dallas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donald Dallas dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Ruf scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ruf working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Dallas is not content to let Ruf control the position.
Dallas sneaks back into half guard.
Dallas is pressing down on Ruf's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dallas wants to sweep but no luck.
Donald Dallas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ruf tries to free his leg and advance position but Dallas is retaining full guard.
Dallas tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ruf looking to pass the guard.
Dallas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dallas working for a triangle but Ruf defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dallas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Dallas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Dallas has hold of Ruf's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ruf tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Dallas cranks the arm and Ruf screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ruf, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Donald Dallas!
