PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Kerns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). White's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Atreyu- You were the king, now your unconcsious. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jared Kerns!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White gets caught napping as Kerns dives in and scores a takedown. White manages to retain guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kerns trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now White is on top in guard.
White wants to get up but he can't break Kerns's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
White trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Kerns bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in White's guard.
Kerns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kernsis looking to pass into half guard but White pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now White is in guard.
White knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kerns on the ground.
White wants to get up but he can't break Kerns's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kerns is controlling White's posture.
Kerns manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kerns trying to control but White is having none of it.
White tries to hold on but Kerns pushes him away.
Kerns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kerns avoids the attempt from White to control.

Kerns misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kerns pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kerns takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kerns sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

White on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if White tries to get out of the position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kerns lands with some vicious ground and pound - can White hang on?
White can't escape the position.
White is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kerns looking to ground and pound but White is blocking nicely.
Kerns is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. White can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kerns looking for a guillotine from mount but White is having none of it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
White is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jared Kerns dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


White scores with a shot to the body.
Kerns misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
White scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
White slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kerns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with White but White pushes him off and we're back to square one.
White lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kerns is trying hard to land a takedown here. White sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Kerns closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Kerns pushes White against the ropes but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Kerns takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

White fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
White jabs Kerns to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Jared Kerns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kerns takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Kerns takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

White moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kerns shoots for a takedown but White saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kerns takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

White bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Kerns walks into a jab.
White ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
White scores with a jab. Kerns acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
White feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kernss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kerns takes a jab right on the kisser.
John White is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A nice combination there by White.
White lands a nice shot that snaps Kerns's head back.

Kerns has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Kerns tries to move into range but White moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Oooooh!!! White has knocked Kerns down with a huge combo! White steps away and waves a wobbly Kerns back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Kerns is rocked!

White drops Kerns with a beautiful combination! Kerns stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - White is looking for the KO!
Kerns is still on wobbly legs! Can White finish him?
White fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kerns seems to have recovered his senses.
White works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
White cracks Kerns with a right hand to the side of the head.

Kerns shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
White is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kerns is looking to take a break and control but White is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

White wants to improve his position but Kerns is controlling well.

Kerns is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and White defends it well.
Kerns is thwarting White's attempts to control the position.
Kerns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
White is looking to control Kerns's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can White avoid being mounted?
White is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kerns is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Kerns wants to pass the guard but White is defending well.
White avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kerns.

White trying to hold on to Kerns's head to control him but Kerns postures up.
Kerns is taking a breather. White says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

White tries to roll over but Kerns keeps him under control.

Kerns dodges the punch combination from White.
White stuffs the takedown attempt from Kerns. Kerns gets slowly back to his feet.

White slaps away a takedown attempt from Kerns, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kerns misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

White tries to bum rush Kerns with a series of wild strikes but Kerns uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

White fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kerns looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
White connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kerns takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
White uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
White leaves Kerns with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

White connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
White's corner calls for a 1-2. White obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Kerns takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

White feints a jab promting Kerns to slip. White then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kerns slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

White connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
White throws a combination. Kerns tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kerns has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
White jabs Kerns to the body, keeping him at a distance.

A nice combination there by White.
Kerns takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kerns takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
White lands with a good body shot.
A jab from White finds it's way through Kerns's defenses.
White bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kerns's head backwards.
White lands an overhand right.
Donk. White catches Kerns right on the button with a cross.
White lands a jab to Kerns's midsection.
White dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
White is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kerns can do to turn this around?
White scores with a one two! Kerns had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
White lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
White catches Kerns with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

A punch lands to the side of Kerns 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kerns has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kerns is defended easily by White.
Kerns is on the wrong end of a nice combination from White.

White jabs Kerns to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kerns has his takedown stuffed
and White makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

White scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

White connects with a body shot that sends Kerns's belly button to the back.
Kerns takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
White lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kerns shoots for a takedown but White saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kerns's hands are dropping dangerously low here and White connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kerns scrambles back to his feet.
White lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kerns at a distance.
White throws out a powerful jab.
White throws a series of strikes that have Kerns backpedaling.
Kerns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Kerns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
White jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
White is working the combinations to good effect here.
Kerns gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Kerns has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from White finds it's way round the side to connect with Kerns's head.
Kerns shoots in but White avoids the takedown attempt easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
John White showed his dominance in that final round.
I think White has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
