PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tycho Brahe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fuego Salsa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brahe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Astronomy by Metallica. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fuego Salsa!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brahe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Salsa.
Salsa throws a hook but Brahe blocks it.
Brahe misses with a low kick.
Salsa throws a right hand that misses
and Brahe counters with a stiff right hand.
Brahe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Salsa.
Brahe lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A big left from Salsa misses.
Salsa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Brahe connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Brahe misses with an uppercut.
Salsa looks to throw the jab but Brahe is out of range.

Salsa shoots for a takedown but Brahe saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Salsa walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Salsa takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Salsa on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Brahe doesn't manage to clinch there - Salsa circles away.
Salsa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brahe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Salsa somewhat.

Brahe connects with a single shot there.
Some wild striking there from Brahe.
Brahe moves out of range of the strikes.
Brahe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Brahe, as that shot connected.

Salsa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Salsa is trying to control. Brahe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Salsa content to control rather than advance.
Salsa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fuego Salsa was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Brahe bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Brahe throws a leg kick which misses Salsa's front leg but catches the back leg as Salsa tries to avoid it.

Brahe moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Salsa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brahe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Salsa wants to control but Brahe is keeping him busy.
