PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Da Mian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petri Pakkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pakkanen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Loost Koos - Pakkasta. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Da Mian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Petri Pakkanen!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pakkanen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Pakkanen is looking to take a break and control but Mian is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pakkanen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Mian sneaks back into half guard.
Pakkanen is trying to control the action in half guard but Mian is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mian wants to improve his position but Pakkanen is controlling well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Petri Pakkanen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Mian connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pakkanen. Pakkanen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mian gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pakkanen is trying to force a seperation but Mian has the dominant position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mian is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mian is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Pakkanen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mian pulls his head out easily.

Da Mian has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pakkanen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Da Mian.
I think Pakkanen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
