PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adonis Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Devotion. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie scores with a sloppy right hand. Silva should have avoided that one.

It looks like Adonis Silva has been cut.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

It looks like Royce Gracie has been cut.
Gracie misses with the combination.
Silva keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gracie tried to score with a low kick but Silva checks it.
Gracie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
Gracie throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range.

Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gracie kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Gracie has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gracie thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.
Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silva!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Royce Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adonis Silva.

Adonis Silva's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

After winning the bout, Royce Gracie thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
