PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Blaine Mccrackin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mullen has chosen Country Boy Can Survive as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blaine Mccrackin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Mullen!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccrackin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mullen tries to avoid it but Mccrackin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mullen to the ground. Mullen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mccrackin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mullen as he jumps to the side.

Mullen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mccrackin to the mat! Mccrackin manages to get full guard.
Mullen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mullen passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mullen tries to score with some ground and pound. Mccrackin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mccrackin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mullen's best efforts.
Mullen wants to take a breather but Mccrackin is having none of it.

Mccrackin is staying active underneath Mullen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mccrackin is trying to maintain the position but Mullen is very close to passing his half guard.
Mullen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mullen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mccrackin's head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Mullen makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Mullen closes the distance and clinches.

Mccrackin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mccrackin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mullen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mullen throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Mullen gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mccrackin regains guard.

Mullen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mccrackin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mccrackin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mullen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mccrackin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chris Mullen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mullen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Mullen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
