Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shang Tsung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernado Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsung kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mortal Kombat Theme. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tavares's choice of entrance music: All Of The Lights. The key to victory for Shang Tsung has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernado Tavares!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsung stuffs the takedown.
Tsung throws a head kick but Tavares moves out of range.
Tavares tries to close the distance and clinch but Tsung swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Tavares shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tsung is trying to defend but Tavares finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Tavares looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tsung is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Tsung is looking to control Tavares's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tsung avoid being mounted?
Tavares wants to free his trapped foot but Tsung is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Tavares is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Tsung wants to get back to his feet.

Tsung is defending against the submission attempts here by Tavares.

Tavares is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tsung is looking to improve his position.

Tsung tries to kick Tavares off in order to stand up. Tavares Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Tavares tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tsung is trying to improve his position.

Tavares tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tavares has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tsung tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tsung wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Fernado Tavares dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Tavares takes a kick to the side of the head.
Tsung lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Tsung tries to sprawl but Tavares drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Tsung wants to get back to full guard.
Tavares moves into full mount! Tsung won't be happy about that!
Tsung is trying to escape the mount.
Tsung is trying to stand but he's just given Tavares his back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tsung tries to roll but Tavares sticks to his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tsung trying to control the position but Tavares manages to sink in the hooks.
You can see the frustration on Tsung's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Tsung avoids the strikes from Tavares.
Tavares controlling well, preventing Tsung from escaping the position.

Tsung is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Tsung takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Tavares somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Tsung defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Tavares's arms.

Tavares looking to break Tsung's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tsung remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tavares will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tavares is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Tsung with him. Tsung is trying to defend but Tavares has an arm under the chin now! Tsung grimaces and is forced to tap out!

After the fight, Fernado Tavares was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
