Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Cider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Cider has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eduardo Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Paul Cider!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cider keeps the fight on the outside.
Alves tries to clinch up but Cider circles away and keeps his distance.
Cider shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cider looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Paul Cider seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cider tries for a takedown but Alves sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Eduardo Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Cider.
Cider shoots in but Alves avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Alves darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alves seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Alves decides to stand back up. Alves steps back and let's Cider get back to his feet.

and Alves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cider's guard.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cider swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cider is working an open guard so Alves takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cider is on top in guard.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cider shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Cider's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Alves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cider sprawls well initially but Alves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Alves throws a series of punches but Cider moves out of range.

Alves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cider is trying to control Alves's posture but Alves avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cider is looking to reverse the position.

Alves decides to stand back up. Alves steps back and let's Cider get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
