PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Huffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guan Di (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Di has chosen Wasteland as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Donnie Huffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guan Di!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huffman lands a nice looking kick to the body. Di takes a step back to recover.
Huffman tries to clinch but Di moves out of range.
Huffman shoots in for a takedown but Di shows good takedown defense.
Huffman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Di is fending him off so far but Huffman persists. Nope, Di circles away and we're back to standing.
Di throws a body kick that misses.
Di throws a leg kick but Huffman sees it coming and moves out of range.

Huffman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Di!
Huffman trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Di is in a horrible position here. Huffman smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

It looks like Guan Di has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Huffman sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Huffman raining down shots from the mount!
Huffman wants to control the pace but Di is squirming around nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Di that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huffman has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Di's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Di is bucking up trying to escape but Huffman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Di tries to hold on but Huffman pushes him away.
Huffman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Di can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That has opened up Guan Di's cut even more.
Di is looking to improve his position but Huffman isn't that keen on the idea.
Huffman mounts Di! Really nice guard pass there!

Huffman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The cut above Guan Di's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Huffman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Huffman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Huffman working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Di turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Huffman off and cradles Di's limp body as Huffman celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Donnie Huffman!
