PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cayetano Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ace Hoodrich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guerrero comes to the cage accompanied by Abarajame. Hoodrich has chosen Like A Pimp as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoodrich with a lazy takedown attempt
and Guerrero counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hoodrich's knee momentarily.

Hoodrich bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoodrich stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hoodrich wants it to stay on the feet.

Guerrero moves into the clinch successfully.

Ace Hoodrich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hoodrich lands a lovely overhand right.

Guerrero fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hoodrich looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Guerrero goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hoodrich prevents it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hoodrich drops down looking for an ankle pick but Guerrero pulls his leg out and moves away.

Guerrero stuffs the takedown attempt from Hoodrich. Hoodrich gets slowly back to his feet.
Guerrero pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hoodrich back to the cage. Guerrero follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Guerrero shoots in looking for a takedown. Hoodrich tries to sprawl out of it but Guerrero keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hoodrich manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hoodrich stalks Guerrero and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Guerrero's face. Guerrero staggers backwards, shaken.
Guerrero is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Hoodrich tries to clinch up but Guerrero circles away and keeps his distance.

Guerrero is pushing Hoodrich up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoodrich wants to control from the top but Guerrero keeps moving.
Hoodrich seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guerrero, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
