With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mickey McMichaels!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helmer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Helmer got a little sloppy there for a moment and McMichaels has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Helmer has managed to get both his arms back between McMichaels's legs - danger averted.

McMichaels is working to avoid the ground and pound but Helmer connects with a decent elbow.

Helmer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McMichaels for as long as he can get away with.

Helmer drops back looking for a leg! McMichaels is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McMichaels manages to kick Helmer off! Helmer jumps back into McMichaels's guard.

Helmer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Helmer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

McMichaels working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Helmer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Helmer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McMichaels is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Helmer has his hands clasped together but McMichaels extends an breaks Helmer's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by McMichaels.
