Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Malac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oscar Silva will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimbo Malac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oscar Silva!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Malac pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Malac is looking for a sweep.

Silva decides to stand up, so the ref orders Malac to his feet.
Malac shoots and misses
and Silva counters with a low kick, right behind Malac 's knee.
Malac is breathing heavily.
Malac misses with a takedown

and Silva moves into the clinch.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Malac fails with the takedown

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Malac didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimbo Malac. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silva stands and steps away. Malac gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Silva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Silva prevents Malac from getting back to his feet.

Malac has his feet on Silva's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Silva tries to clinch there but Malac circles away.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Malac throws a head kick that misses
and Silva cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Malac misses with a takedown attempt
and Silva counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Malac could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Malac tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily
and Silva counters with a head kick.
Jimbo Malac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva clinches.

Malac escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Malac gets the takedown into side control.

Malac tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Malac has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Malac tries to stand but Silva is controlling his head.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Silva is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Silva is trying to stand.

Silva pushes Malac off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Malac is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Silva stands up and waves to Malac to follow him.

and Silva counters by moving into the clinch.
Malac goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Malac shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Malac wants to break the clinch but can't.
Malac wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Malac is trying to maintain a safe position but Silva gets an underhook and turns Malac into the ropes.
Malac fails to pull guard.
Silva scores with a nice hook to the head.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Malac.
Malac is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Silva is keeping busy.

Silva jumps guard.
Silva trying to keep a closed guard but Malac is proving a slippery customer.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Malac manages to get himself to full guard.

Malac pushes Silva off and scrambles back to his feet.
Malac shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Silva counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Silva is tying to control. Malac wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Malac is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Silva postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Malac to stand up.
A head kick by Malac misses
and Silva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Malac is lucky that one didn't land flush.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Silva throws a left that rocks Malac and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Silva dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Malac regain composure!


Malac is rocked!


It looks like Jimbo Malac has been cut.
Silva scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Malac is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Silva can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oscar Silva!
