PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Quick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Textmark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Quick might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Indestructible, by Disturbed. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Quick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Justin Textmark!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Textmark misses with a looping right.

Quick gets the takedown into side control.
Quick creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Textmark sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Textmark tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Textmark sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Quick is trying to control. Textmark wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Quick is working for a kimura but Textmark is defending it quite comfortably.
Textmark is refusing to be controlled, as Quick sits in half guard.

Textmark tries to buck Quick off but Quick is having none of it.

Quick stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Textmark connects with a single shot there.
Textmark misses with a double jab.
Textmark tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Quick was well out of range. Poor timing from Textmark.

Quick darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Quick is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Quick is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Textmark is just riding it out for now. Quick eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Textmark is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Quick pulls his head out easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Textmark gets back to full guard.

Quick drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quick jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Textmark throws a looping overhand right but Quick ducks down to avoid it.
Textmark shoots for a double leg takedown but Quick sprawls well. He's pushed Textmark's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Textmark misses the target.
Textmark tries to close the distance and clinch but Quick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Quick uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Textmark.

Quick decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Textmark is looking to improve his position.
Quick not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Textmark moves into full guard.
Quick pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Textmark is keeping the position for now.

Quick passes the guard and advances to mount!
Textmark tries to lock up and control but Quick gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Quick here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Textmark sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Quick looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Textmark has hold of Quick's hands but Quick slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Quick tries to pass to full mount but Textmark defends it.
Textmark gets back to full guard.

Quick postures up and lands a big shot to Textmark's brow.
Textmark not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Textmark throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Quick escapes and throws Textmark's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Textmark manages to work his way to half guard, despite Quick's best efforts.
Quick frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Quick get's back to his feet.
Quick throws a jab when Textmark was well out of range.

Quick slips a jab and a cross from Textmark.
Textmark is breathing heavily.

Quick looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Textmark!

Quick has hold of Textmark's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Textmark manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
BOOM! Quick connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Textmark is trying to escape the mount.
Quick seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Textmark is holding on tight.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Textmark sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Quick postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Textmark to stand up.
Textmark looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Quick is fending him off so far but Textmark persists. Nope, Quick circles away and we're back to standing.

Textmark manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Quick on his heels. He'll look to pass Quick's guard now, I'm sure.

Quick fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Textmark to the ground. Quick is now in Textmark's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Textmark is on top in guard.

Quick looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Textmark is defending well. Quick quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Textmark has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Quick celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
