Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Cesar!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cesar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rampage drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cesar looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cesar looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cesar!
Rampage gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cesar is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Cesar tries to pass to full mount but Rampage defends it.

Rampage is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cesar pulls his head out easily.

Cesar wants to control the pace but Rampage is squirming around nicely.

Rampage gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cesar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rampage won't be happy with that.

Rampage isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cesar stacks Rampage on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cesar!

Cesar moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Rampage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rampage is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cesar off and has taken his back!

Rampage somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Rampage jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cesar is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cesar and Rampage has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rampage postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Rampage is looking for a kimura but Cesar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rampage to get the leverage.

Rampage is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rampage seems to be looking for submissions.
Cesar is trying to stand back up but Rampage is controlling him
Rampage has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cesar wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poor strikes thrown by Rampage there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roger Rampage will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Cesar is taking a breather. Rampage says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Rampage regains full guard. Nicely done.
Roger Rampage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rampage is looking for a triangle but Cesar pushes his legs off easily.

Rampage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cesar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cesar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rampage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cesar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cesar gets to his feet. Rampage looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cesar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rampage keeps working.

Cesar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rampage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee asks Cesar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cesar prefers to stall for the moment though.
