PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kolt Kannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kolt Kannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raje Malapitan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kannon throws a head kick that misses.

Malapitan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kannon's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Malapitan is trying to work for a kimura but Kannon is defending well.
Kannon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malapitan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malapitan's back!

Kannon is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Malapitan defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Malapitan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kannon's guard. Nice work there by Malapitan.

Kannon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malapitan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Malapitan wants to control from the top but Kannon keeps moving.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Malapitan postures up in Kannon's guard and throws a big left but Kannon blocks it.

Kannon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Malapitan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kannon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Malapitan!

Kannon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like Raje Malapitan has been cut.
Malapitan manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Malapitan, under a barage of strikes from Kannon.

Malapitan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kannon is working away from the top position though.
Malapitan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kannon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Malapitan is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Kannon is staying active.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kannon stuns Malapitan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Malapitan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kannon's waist but Kannon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Malapitan off to one side.

Malapitan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kannon is trying to defend but Malapitan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Malapitan is stalling here. Kannon is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Malapitan seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kannon has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
