Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orlando Melendez!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melendez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
David connects with the punch.
Melendez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says David as he avoids it easily.
Larry David has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orlando Melendez.
David lands with a nice body kick.

Melendez dives in and grabs David's left leg, looking for a takedown. David pushes down on Melendez's head and hops out.

David lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

David fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Melendez has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from David finds it's way round the side to connect with Melendez's head.
David throws a right and a left that Melendez avoids nicely.
David is looking to slow Melendez down with leg kicks.

Melendez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
David throws a leg kick which misses Melendez's front leg but catches the back leg as Melendez tries to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

David throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
David leaves Melendez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
David connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Melendez momentarily.

Melendez looks gassed!
Melendez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
David pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Melendez chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before David can pounce on him.
David fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Melendez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
David lands with a kick to the temple. Melendez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
David dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Melendez. That did some damage!
No luck for Melendez with that takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
David lands a leg kick that knocks Melendez off balance momentarily.

Melendez is trying desperately to land a takedown but David is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Melendez.

Melendez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from David.

Melendez's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

David fakes the leg kick and cracks Melendez in the body.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Melendez might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, David has got the better of the exchanges.
