The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dominick gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alberto counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Dominick misses with a few strikes there.
Dominick falls off balance throwing a combination

and Alberto counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Alberto distracts Dominick with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Dominick is looking for a triangle here but Alberto uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alberto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
