Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Fielding (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Toddie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fielding keeps the fight on the outside.
Toddie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fielding swivels and escapes.

Fielding scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Dexter Fielding has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Toddie walks forward, straight into a front kick from Fielding.

Fielding tries to bum rush Toddie with a series of wild strikes but Toddie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Dexter Fielding has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clay Toddie.
Toddie goes for a takedown attempt but Fielding pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Fielding fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Toddie to the ground. Fielding is now in Toddie's guard.

Fielding wants to control from the top but Toddie keeps moving.
Toddie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fielding controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Toddie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Fielding really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We're going to have a standup here because Dexter Fielding wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Toddie drops back looking for a leg! Fielding is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fielding manages to kick Toddie off! Toddie jumps back into Fielding's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fielding will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Toddie won't allow Fielding to sweep him here.

Toddie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fielding sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Toddie somewhat.

Fielding drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Toddie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fielding has Toddie in his guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Toddie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fielding was covering up waiting for the punch and Toddie finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fielding looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Toddie has picked Fielding up and slammed him! Fielding can't keep hold of the triangle and Toddie manages to pass to side control!

Toddie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fielding, who protects the arm well.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Fielding working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Fielding has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Toddie's body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fielding is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Toddie knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Toddie for a finish.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dexter Fielding.
Well Fielding has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
