PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Sinclair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Belkofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Sinclair!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Belkofer!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belkofer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sinclair shoots in but Belkofer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sinclair fails to land the takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sinclair.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Sinclair. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Belkofer tries to clinch but Sinclair is having none of it.
Belkofer thows a body shot but no joy.

Sinclair manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Belkofer on his heels. He'll look to pass Belkofer's guard now, I'm sure.
Sinclair stands up over Belkofer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sinclair throwing strikes but missing.
Sinclair stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Belkofer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Belkofer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sinclair.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sinclair throwing strikes but missing.
Sinclair looking to pass the guard.
Sinclair wants to control from the top but Belkofer keeps moving.
Sinclair is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Sinclair is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Belkofer keeping full guard, as Sinclair tries to pass.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sinclair distracts Belkofer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sinclair is looking to work some ground and pound but Belkofer has wrist control.
Sinclair connects with a couple of short punches.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sinclair accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sinclair with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sinclair is in close to Belkofer's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sinclair's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Belkofer looks gassed!
Belkofer wants to stand and escape but Sinclair is having none of it.
Sinclair trying to control the position from guard on top but Belkofer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Belkofer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sinclair is controlling him.
Sinclair has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sinclair is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sinclair landing some decent shots from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sinclair's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sinclair trying to control but Belkofer is working from the bottom.
Belkofer can't keep his opponent in guard - Sinclair advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Belkofer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Belkofer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sinclair.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sinclair is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sinclair passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Belkofer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Belkofer takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Sinclair landing strikes from the mount and Belkofer is in trouble!


Belkofer is rocked!


It looks like David Belkofer has been cut.
Sinclair loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Belkofer scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Sinclair land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Sinclair stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Sinclair!
