The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welch lands a nice hook to Johnson's body. Johnson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson looks up at the clock and then as Welch takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Johnson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Welch keeps working.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Welch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johnson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Welch looks calm but he's in trouble here. Johnson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Welch is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Johnson lets go of the hold and Welch can pop his arm back in it's socket.
