Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Murray will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Murray!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Murray.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Miller.
A nice combination there by Murray.
Miller has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Murray scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Murray fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Miller.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Miller.
Murray misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Some wild striking there from Murray.
Miller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Murray's waist but Murray gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Miller off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Murray with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Miller takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Murray can do anything to dispel that myth.

Miller has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Horrible takedown by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Murray which made him look bad.
Miller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Murray is fending him off so far but Miller persists. Nope, Murray circles away and we're back to standing.
Miller steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Murray. That one must have hurt.
Murray misses with a jab, cross combination.
Murray connects with a leg kick. Miller looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Miller moves out of range as Murray throws a body kick.
Murray lands a jab to Miller's midsection.
Murray lands with a nice body punch.

Miller takes one on the button.
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Murray, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Murray against the cage but Murray circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Murray lands with a good body shot.

Miller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Well, if Miller is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Miller is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Miller is trying to control the action in half guard but Murray is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Miller drops an elbow to the side of Murray's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Miller escapes and gets back to his feet.
Murray throws a leg kick but Miller sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Murray paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Scott Murray will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Miller takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Murray misses with a few strikes there.
Murray fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Miller looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Murray instigates a clinch.

Murray breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Murray steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Miller.
Murray tries a head kick but it misses.
Murray swinging wildly here.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Murray manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Murray looks to land a body kick but Miller moved away.
Scott Murray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Murray throws a right hand that Miller ducks under and follows up with a left that Miller also avoids with ease.
Murray scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Murray misses with a body kick.
Murray is breathing heavily.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Murray sprawls well. Murray wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.

Murray looks like he's trying to stand up.

Miller looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Murray is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Miller scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miller escapes and gets back to his feet.
Miller avoids the head kick by Murray.
Murray throws a low kick but Miller avoids it.
Miller throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Murray throws a nice inside leg kick.
Scott Murray seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Murray manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Miller doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Murray lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Scott Murray is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Murray swings for the body but Miller moves out of range.
Miller shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murray defends it nicely.
Murray throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Miller takes a head kick and keeps coming.
No luck for Miller with that takedown attempt.

Miller is nestled in close to Murray, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Miller is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murray is just riding it out for now. Miller eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chris Miller will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Miller lands with some strikes.
Miller lands a big shot there that rocks Murray but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Miller pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Miller lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Murray is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Chris Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Murray takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miller cracks Murray with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Miller postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Murray in real trouble here! The ref calls for Murray to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Miller!
Our winner, Chris Miller, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
