Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Primo Carnera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carnera comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - one more road to cross. Chris Carwin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Primo Carnera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carwin throws a hook to the side of Carnera's head but Carnera sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carnera shoots in for a takedown but Carwin shows good takedown defense.
Carwin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carnera.
Carwin looks to score with a jab to the body but Carnera is just out of range.
Carnera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carwin sprawls well. Carwin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carnera gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Primo Carnera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carwin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carnera shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carnera blocks a jab.
Carnera tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carwin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carnera somewhat.

Carwin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Primo Carnera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carnera rushes Carwin and presses him up against the cage.
Carnera takes a shot to the head.
Carnera is working for takedown but Carwin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Carwin throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Carneras head.

Carwin pushes Carnera back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Carnera tries for a takedown. No joy.

Carnera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carnera takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Carwin throws a jab when Carnera was well out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carnera is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carwin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Carwin scores with a sloppy right hand. Carnera should have avoided that one.

Carnera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carnera is breathing heavily.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Carnera with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carwin is trying to control the position but Carnera postures up.
Carnera prevents Carwin from getting back to his feet.
Carnera postures up in Carwin's guard and throws a big left but Carwin blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carnera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carwin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carwin pulls Carnera in to control the position.
Carwin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Chris Carwin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Carwin tries to bench press Carnera off him but Carnera keeps the position.

Carnera tries for a kimura but Carwin is defending well.
Carnera looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Carwin is avoiding damage well.
Carnera grinds an elbow into Carwin's temple.
Carwin is looking to regain half guard here but Carnera keeps moving and retains side control.
Carwin pushes Carnera away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carnera gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ground and pound from Carnera seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Carwin is trying to get back to his feet.
Carnera in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
I wouldn't like to be where Carwin is right now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Carwin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carnera throws a strike aimed at the side of Carwin's head but Carwin avoids it well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Primo Carnera will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Carwin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carnera blocks a jab.
Primo Carnera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carnera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carwin circles away.
Carnera shoots in for a takedown but Carwin shows good takedown defense.

Carwin cracks a nice hook into Carnera's ribs.

and Carnera counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carwin won't be happy with that.

Carwin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Carnera connects with a decent elbow.

Carnera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carwin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carnera.
Carnera looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carwin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Carnera lands a nice short elbow.
Carwin is trying to maintain the position but Carnera is very close to passing his half guard.
Carnera is looking to take a break and control but Carwin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Primo Carnera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Carnera looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Carwin!
Carwin tries to lock up and control but Carnera gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carwin is trying to stand.
Carnera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Carnera will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carwin is in all sorts of trouble here.

Carnera jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Carwin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Carwin and Carnera has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ground and pound from Carnera seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Carnera throws an elbow but Carwin slips to the side and avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Carwin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Carnera swings around for an armbar but Carwin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Carnera's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chris Carwin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carnera shoots in looking for a takedown. Carwin tries to sprawl out of it but Carnera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carwin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Chris Carwin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Carnera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carwin circles away.

Carnera fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carwin avoids it really well and circles away.

Carnera takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Carnera throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carwin's waist but Carwin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carnera off to one side.
No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carnera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Carwin lands a nice hook to Carnera's body. Carnera takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carwin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Carnera has time to react.

Carwin looks to land a left hand but Carnera moved out of range nicely.

Carwin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carnera moves away.

Chris Carwin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carnera has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
