Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alistair Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Ben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Republic Tigers. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ben avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Emelianenko is looking to clinch.
Alistair Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ben misses with a two punch combination.
Ben shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Emelianenko but Emelianenko pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Emelianenko doesn't manage to clinch there - Ben circles away.
Emelianenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Ben. Ben gets slowly back to his feet.

Emelianenko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ben after a bit of a struggle.

Ben gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Emelianenko regains guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Ben swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ben gets tackled into the cage by Emelianenko. Emelianenko maintains the clinch.

Emelianenko manages to pull guard.
Ben tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelianenko is retaining full guard.
Emelianenko doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Ben trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Emelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Emelianenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ben can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Emelianenko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ben is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ben throws a right and a left that both miss.

Ben scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Emelianenko is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ben wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emelianenko keeps working.
Emelianenko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ben in side control lands a decent elbow.
Ben tries to score with some ground and pound. Emelianenko controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ben is putting a hurting on Emelianenko here, landing some big shots from side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ben tries to advance to mount but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Horrible takedown by Ben or perhaps it was just good defense by Emelianenko which made him look bad.
Emelianenko feints and then cracks Ben's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ben down.

Emelianenko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Emelianenko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Emelianenko wants to clinch up but Ben keeps it at a distance.
Ben circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ben throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Emelianenko's waist but Emelianenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ben off to one side.
Emelianenko lands a glancing blow to the side of Ben's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Emelianenko throws a nice looking combination but Ben bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Emelianenko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ben manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ben is breathing heavily.
Ben leaves Emelianenko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ben on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Emelianenko. Emelianenko obviously looking to wear him down.

Emelianenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Ben tries to sprawl out of it but Emelianenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ben manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Emelianenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Emelianenko is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ben can do to turn this around?

Emelianenko throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Ben crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
